IT System Administrator

Athens / Remote / Intermediate

We’re seeking an experienced systems administrator who is eager to use and grow his or her technological skills on a worldwide stage. In this role, the successful individual will develop our IT infrastructure, implement new software and hardware, and assist in the development of an overall IT strategy. From early on, you’ll help empower our breakthrough innovations, be given challenging assignments, lead initiatives, and take ownership and responsibility.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, application servers, web servers, mail servers and virtualization infrastructure
  • Install and upgrade software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues
  • Prepare documentation and technical specifications for existing and planned IT infrastructure
  • Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance
  • Keep abreast of new trends and best practices in system administration

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
  • 1-3 years of system administration experience
  • System administration of Linux (knowledge of Windows, BSD etc are a plus)
  • Proven working knowledge of VMWare
  • Hands-on experience in installing, configuring, and managing open-source servers
  • Deep understanding of clusters, high availability architectures and relational & nosql databases.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
  • Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
  • Very good communication skills in English
  • Completed military obligations, if applicable
